Helen Marie Hardesty, 76, of Broughton died Saturday, November 18, 2000, at Carbondale Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, of kidney failure.
She retired in 1990 as a school bus driver for the Norris City Public School System.
She was born on July 15, 1924, the daughter of Louis and Mary (Weitkamp) Eckstein.
She was a member of Lutheran Church and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2866 Ladies Auxiliary, both in St. Charles, Missouri.
Surviving are her husband, Woodrow W.; a daughter, Mary Hardesty of Vero Beach, Florida; a son, Robert of Beaumont, Texas; three brothers, Kenneth Eckstein of Eldon, Missouri, Robert Eckstein of Springfield, Missouri, and Donald Eckstein of Oklahoma; and a grandson, Brian Bach.
Funeral services were at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 22, 2000 at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro. The Rev. Robert Sefried officiated. Burial pending.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters.
