James L. Green
Born September 4, 1930 - Died February 25, 2000

James L. Green, 94, of Burnt Prairie, Illinois, died on Friday, February 25, 2000, at 3:36 p.m. near his home in Burnt Prairie, Illinois.

Mr. Green was a retired timber cutter and was serving as the Road Commissioner of Burnt Prairie.

He was born on September 4, 1930 in Hamilton County, near Aden, a son of James and Matilda F. (Wheeler) Green.

Survivors include two sons, Randy (wife Debbie) Green of Mill Sholas, and Roger (wife Lisa) Green of Burnt Prairie; one daughter, Mrs. Susan (husband Jon) Gieselman of Mt. Vernon; five grandchildren; two brothers, George Green of Oklahoma, and Emory Green of Rantoul.

Mr. Green served in the U. S. Marine Corps during the Korean War; he was also a member of the Enfield General Baptist Church.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 29, 2000, at 2:00 p.m. at the Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro. Rev. Ruby McDowell officiated. Burial was in Salem Cemetery, near Burnt Prairie, with military rights given by American Legion Post #106 of McLeansboro.

Mr. Green was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Wesley, four sisters, Allie Adams, Rachel Hunt, Lucille Cartmill, and Cordelia Green.
