Myrtle E. Carsten, 78, of Dale, Illinois, died Wednesday, March 1, 2000, at 6:35 p.m. at her home. She was a homemaker.

She was a member of the First General Baptist Church.

Mrs. Carsten was born November 22, 1921 in Macedonia; a daughter of Oscar and Martha (Summers) Hutchcraft. On April 27, 1962 in Eatontown, New Jersey she married James E. Carsten and he survives.

Surviving are her husband James E.; four daughters, Nancy Pietz of Clovis, California, Joan Johnson of Fresno, California, Sandra Allen of Benton and Brenda Biggerstaff of McLeansboro; two sons, Lindell Launius of Herrin and Dennis Allen of Downers Grove; three sisters, Jean Stoll of West Frankfort, Lillie Bennet of Louisiana, and Letha Sanford of Forest Park; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Funeral services were at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, March 4, 2000, at the First General Baptist Church. Rev. Ken Cook officiated. Burial was in Hickory Hill Cemetery.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and three brothers.
