Mary Holland Beard, 93, of McLeansboro died Saturday, July 22, 2000, at Hamilton Memorial Nursing Center in McLeansboro.
She was a homemaker.
She was born on April 20, 1907, in McLeansboro, a daughter of Lawrence E. Lambert and Minnie Van Cleve Lambert. She married Elmer J. Holland on December 27, 1928 and he died on September 24, 1974; she later married William Beard on January 23, 1979 and he preceded her in death on February 7, 1981.
Survivors include one son, Francis E. Holland of Carmel, Indiana; two daughters, Carolyn P. Swanson and husband Randall of Durham, North Carolina and Virginia Rubenacker and husband Dean of McLeansboro; one sister, Alice Moss and husband John of Pekin; four grandsons, Donald Holland of Wilton, Iowa, Greg Swanson of Newark, New Jersey, Jeff Holland of Fredericksburg, Virginia and Troy Rubenacker of McLeansboro; four granddaughters, Vicki Wooldridge and Belinda Jennings of Indianapolis, Indiana, Tamara Sharpe of Efland, North Carolina and Lori Rubenacker of McLeansboro; and great-grandchildren, T. J. and Jason Wooldridge, Eric Swanson, Nathan Holland, Jacob and Matthew Rubenacker, Ashley Jennings, and Alexandra and Taylor Sharpe.
Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 26, 2000 at the Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro. Rev. Robert Sefried officiated. Burial was in Blooming Grove Cemetery, near McLeansboro.
Mrs. Beard was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church.
She was an avid gardner.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one son, Clyde Holland.
