Melvin R. Felix, 90, of McLeansboro, died Thursday, August 31, 2000, at Skaggs Community Health Center in Branson, Missouri.
He retired from U.S. Industrial Chemical Co. in Tuscola, Illinois.
He was a 50-year Mason, member of Branson Hollister Lions Club, Southwestern Missouri Council on Aging, and was involved in the establishment of the Branson senior citizen and community center.
He was a member of Branson First Baptist Church.
He was born on September 11, 1909 in McLeansboro, a son of Oran and Grace Felix. He married Edith Felix.
Surviving are his wife, Edith Hampton Morrison; two stepdaughters, Ann Sturdevant of Houston and Kay Smith of Tempe, Arizonia; a son, Bob of Wichita, Kansas; a stepson, Bill Morrison of Columbia, South Carolina; 13 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a stepson.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, September 3, 2000 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Branson, Missouri. Rev. Jay Scribner officiated.
Graveside services were at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 5, 2000, with Masonic rites, at Blooming Grove Cemetery. Rev. Robert Sefried officiate.
