Randall Guy Hawkins, 37, of 203 West Main Street, Dale, Illinois died Sunday, December 10, 2000, at his home of gunshot wounds.
Mr. Hawkins was born on November 7, 1963, in Portsmouth, Virginia, the son of Ronald and Marilyn Sue (Taylor) Hawkins. He married the former Lourdes Soto and she survives.
He was a correctional officer at the Pinckneyville Correctional Center, where he was a member of the AFSCME union. He also had been a police officer for 14 years in El Paso, Texas, and a deputy sheriff for Hamilton County.
He was a member of Church of Christ in El Paso, Texas.
Surviving are his wife, Lourdes (Soto); two sons, Justin of Decatur, Texas, and Tristan Edward of Dale; his mother, Marilyn Sue Hawkins of Mount Vernon; a sister, Deborah Christopher of Mount Vernon; his grandfather, Howard Taylor; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 16, 2000 at Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro. Burial was in Cartwright Cemetery near McLeansboro.
Mr. Hawkins was preceded in death by his father, a brother, Edward Hawkins, and his maternal grandmother, Margaret Dungy Taylor.
