Robert W. “Bob” Carlton, 76, died Wednesday, May 10, 2000, at Hamilton Memorial Hospital.
He retired as the owner and operator of Carlton Rock and Limestone and from farming.
He was a World War II veteran and a Protestant.
He was born on May 18, 1923 in Franklin County, a son of Marshall and Ethel (Gibbs) Carlton. On December 14, 1950 in Franklin County, he married Bette Louise (Barnfield) Carlton and she survives.
Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Bette L.; two daughters, Jane Ann Carlton of McLeansboro and June Ellen Accord of Carmi; two brothers, Samuel of Brazil, Indiana, and Don of Macedonia; and a grandson, Cliffton Joseph Accord.
Funeral services were at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 13, 2000 at Harre Funeral Home. Brother Robby King and Rev. Robert Sefreid officiated. Burial was in Pleasant Grove Cemetery near McLeansboro. Graveside military rites were performed by American Legion Post No. 106 of McLeansboro.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Alberta Carlton.
