Thomas H. Crider Sr., 78, of McLeansboro, died Tuesday, September 19, 2000, at 2:15 p.m. at the Veteran Affairs Medical Center in Marion.
He was a timber cutter and had worked for Caterpillar Tractor Co. in Peoria.
He was a World War II Army veteran.
He was born on January 18, 1922 in Cave-In-Rock, Illinois, a son of Thomas L. and Maude (James) Crider. He married Betty Stevens and she survives.
He was a deacon at Full Gospel Church in Broughton.
Surviving are his wife, Betty (Stevens); two daughters, Brenda Tarrence of Eldorado and Wanda Caldwell of Wasson; three stepdaughters, Bonnie G. Skelton of Harrisburg, Jerri Jackson of McLeansboro and Kimberly Russell of Broughton; two sons, Roy T. of Eldorado and Thomas H. Jr. of Dahlgren; four stepsons, Donald and Brian Harris, both of Eldorado, Doug Hudson of Harrisburg and Raymond Hudson of McLeansboro; 24 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were at 1:00 p.m. Friday, September 22, 2000 at Gholson Funeral Home. Rev. Ray Essary and Rev. Mike Alexander officiated. Burial was in Smith Cemetery near Dale, with military rites.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and two sisters.
