Velma Brown
Born February 11, 1918 - Died July 15, 2000

Velma Brown, 82, of McLeansboro, died Saturday, July 15, 2000, at Enfield Healthcare Center.

She was a member of McLeansboro First Baptist Church and a former member of the McLeansboro Rebekah Lodge, where she served as secretary for more than 40 years.

She was born on February 11, 1918 in Eldorado, a daughter of James and Sarah Elizabeth (Unthank) Davies. On July 25, 1937, she married Carl L. Brown in Morganfield, Kentucky and he survives.

Surviving are her husband, Carl L.; a daughter, Debbie Reed of McLeansboro; a son, Carl Eddie of Grayville; five grandchildren, Steven, Jeff and Kevin Brown, Brent Reed and Stacy Winemiller; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 17, 2000 in Odd Fellows Cemetery. Rev. Robert Sefried officiated.

There was no public visitation at Harre Funeral Home McLeansboro Chapel.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two infant sisters, two brothers, James and John Davies; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
