Violet May Holland , 83, of Hastings, Michigan and formerly of McLeansboro, died Thursday, May 18, 2000 at the Pennock Hospital in Hastings, Michigan.

She was a retired cook, having worked at the Harrisburg Memorial Hospital.

She was born on June 12, 1916 in Fife Lake, Michigan, a daughter of David and Grace (Elliot) Rancour.

Surviors include three daughters, Mrs. Jeanne Barnett and her husband, Rev. Rudolph Barnett of McLeansboro, Mrs. Barbara Travis and husband Jack of Ann Arbor, Michigan, and Mrs. Sandra Gardner and husband Fred of Hastings, Michigan; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren also survive.

A memorial graveside service was held on Saturday, June 10, 2000 at Elmwood Cemetery at Equality, Illinois. Gholson Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

The Rev. George Schmink officiated.

She was a member of the Dorris Heights Methodist Church of Harrisburg, Illinois.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Everett R. Taylor, two grandchildren, two brothers, and one sister.
