William J. Barker, 72, of McLeansboro died of emphysema at 2:45 p.m. on Saturday, December 23, 2000, at Hamilton Memorial Hospital.
He was born on December 16, 1928, the son of Randall and Geneva (Dietz) Barker. He married Carol Ann Franke and she survives.
He was a self-employed painter.
He was a Korean War Air Force veteran.
He was a Lutheran.
Surviving are his wife, Carol Ann (Franke); two sons, Darryl Barker of St. Louis and Larry (wife Theresa) Barker of O’Fallon; two half sisters, Jeanine Blackledge and Lois Hooker of Carmi; three half brothers, Robert Mezo of McLeansboro, John Mezo of Wood River and James Mezo of Cuba, Mo.; and two grandchildren, Derek Lee and Amanda Jean Barker.
He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, David James Barker, one half brother and one half sister.
Friends may call from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 27, 2000 with a military flag presentation at 7, at Gholson Funeral Home. Burial is pending.
