William J. Heck, 82, of Dahlgren, died Wednesday, April 19, 2000, at his home.
He was a retired farmer.
He was born on December 20, 1917 in Hamilton County, a son of Jacob and Mary (Rubenacker) Heck. On January 9, 1946, he married Wilma Bernice Spruell, and she died in 1994.
He was a member of St. John Catholic Church and a World War II Army veteran.
Surviving are three daughters, Mary Frey and Margaret Langley, both of McLeansboro, and Elizabeth “Betty” Anselment of Dahlgren; a son, Robert of Dahlgren; a sister, Christine Blum of Downers Grove; a brother, Sylvester of Downers Grove; eight grandchildren, Sara Heck, Greg, Doug and Christina Anselment, Janet, Steven and Joseph Simpson and Jacob Langley; and a stepgrandchild, Greg Rowe.
His wife, Wilma Bernice (Spruell), died in 1994.
Funeral services were at 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 24, 2000 at St. John’s Catholic Church. Rev. Roland Jacques and Rev. Joseph Lawler officiated. Burial in St. John’s Cemetery, with military rites performed by American Legion Post No. 106 of McLeansboro.
He was preceded in death by his wife and parents.
