Charles E. Allen, 74, of Dahlgren died of heart complications at 8:23 a.m. on Sunday, February 25, 2001, at Cox South Hospital in Springfield, Missouri.
He was born on April 22, 1926 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Clarence and Irene (Ripplinger) Allen.
He retired from Wagner Electric in Mount Vernon. He was a World War II Army veteran, with service in Germany.
Surviving are a daughter, Janice Gahagan of Laramie, Wyoming; a stepdaughter, Karyl Ann Doghogne of St. Peters, Missouri; a son, Eddie Allen of Chicago; a stepson, James Lowe of Marshfield, Missouri; a sister, Rietta Spalding of Kimberling, Missouri; a brother, Gene Allen of Alabama; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a stepson.
Funeral services were at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 1, 2001 at Harre Funeral Home. MSGR Joseph Lawler officiated. Burial was in St. John Catholic Church Cemetery, with military rites by Mt. Vernon, Illinois American Legion.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and step-son.
