Caroline K. “Carrie” Haas

Caroline K. “Carrie” Haas, 82, of McLeansboro died Wednesday, January 17, 2001, at Good Samaritan Regional Health Center.

She was born on June 1, 1918 in Piopolis, the daughter of Richard Parson Bond and Mary Emma (Aydt) Bond. She married Lawrence Conrad Haas and he died on November 24, 1989.

She had been a seamstress for Cornbleets and Mount Vernon Dress factories and the Decatur and Wayne City Garment factories.

She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Piopolis.

Surviving are two daughters, Evelyn “Evie” and Lillian “Sadie” Kreher, both of McLeansboro; a sister, Lorene Schuster of Dahlgren; four grandchildren, Rita and Juliann Rapp, Jim Kreher and Donna Tedrow; and eight great-grandchildren. Her husband, Lawrence Conrad, died in 1989.

Funeral services were at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 20, 2001 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Msgr. Joseph Lawler officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery.

She was preceded in death by parents, husband, two brothers and three sisters.
