Edwin E. Hughes, 78, of Bloomington (formerly of McLeansboro), died Tuesday, January 9, 2001, at Veteran Affairs Medical Center in Danville of complications of diabetes.
He was born on October 16, 1922, in Ina, the son of Cyrus Earl Hughes and Dorcas (Hooker) Hughes. He married Nancy (Shipley) Hughes on December 30, 1958.
He was self-employed.
He was a World War II Army veteran and member of the Masonic Lodge in Fresno, California He was Baptist.
Surviving are his wife, Nancy (Shipley); two daughters, Teresa Hughes of Fresno and Kathy Imig of Normal; two sons, Clifford E. of Columbus, Georgia, and Edwin A. of Sibley; a sister, Laverne Stokes of Godfrey; and seven grandchildren.
Graveside services were at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 12, 2001 in Blooming Grove Cemetery. Rev. Bill Adams officiated. Burial was in Blooming Grove Cemetery near McLeansboro.
Harre Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
