Henry Paul Trotter, 80, of McLeansboro, died on Tuesday, January 30, 2001 at 3:57 a.m. at V.A. Medical Center in Marion, Illinois.
He was born on September 12, 1920 in Dahlgren, the son of Henry Parkhurst and Hattie E. (Tennyson) Trotter. He married Aline Ragan Catron and she survives.
He was a L&N Railroad Car Inspector for 10 years and a retired guard for the Illinois Department of Corrections for 25 years at Chester, Illinois.
He was also a U. S. Army Veteran of WWII and received a Purple Heart in combat. Mr. Trotter was a member of the McLeansboro VFW Post.
He is survived by one son, Kenneth (wife Geraldine) Trotter of Texico, Illinois and one step-son, Mr. Larry Catron of McLeansboro.
He also has two grandchildren, Kenneth E. Trotter of McLeansboro and Paul A. Trotter of Mt. Vernon, Illinois and two step-grandchildren, Robert Currul and Brandi Jolly of Key West, Florida and two step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother and two sisters.
Funeral services were Friday, February 2, 2001 at 11:00 a.m. at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro. Rev. Carl Leek officated. Burial was in Blooming Grove Cemetery near McLeansboro with graveside rites by VFW American Legion Post.
