Juanita Auten, 86, of McLeansboro died at 5:05 p.m. on Thursday, March 1, 2001 at Hamilton Memorial Hospital.

She was born on May 1, 1914 in Franklin County, the daughter of James R. and Eva (Tate) Tate. She was a retired seamstress with the former Elder Mfg. Company in McLeansboro.

She was a member of the Eastern Star of Thompsonville, McLeansboro 1st Baptist Church and McLeansboro Ladies Evening Club.

She is survived by one son, Richard and wife Lucille Auten of McLeansboro, three grandchildren, Mark and wife Lisa Auten of McLeansboro, Brad and wife Lesley Auten of New Baden, and Lisa and husband Paul Furtak of McLeansboro. She also had eight grandchildren, Brendan, Dale, Trevor, Aribi and Kirsti Auten, Danielle, Nicole and Samantha Furtak and two nephews, Gary and Steve Tate.

Funeral services were held on Sunday, March 4, 2001 at 1:30 p.m. at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro. Rev. Robert Sefried officiated. Burial was in Masonic and Odd Fellows Cemetery in Benton.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one great-grandchild and one brother.
