James Harry Sneed, 93, of McLeansboro died at 1:10 a.m. on Saturday, January 13, 2001, at Hamilton Memorial Hospital.
He was born on August 25, 1907, the son of James and Fannie (Sherwood) Sneed.
He retired as postmaster after 25 years with the Creal Springs Post Office.
He was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran.
He was a member of Belle Prairie Baptist Church.
Surviving are two stepsons, Joseph Simpson of New Haven and Gary Simpson of Arkansas; five grandchildren, Michael David and Debra Sneed, Anita Sue Frey, Beth Anderson and Connie Williams; stepgrandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two wives, Genette (McNail) and Fern (Fields) Simpson, and two sons, William Eugene and David Sneed.
Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 17, 2001 at Gholson Funeral Home. The Rev. Robert Sefried officiated. Burial was in Crouch Cemetery in Belle Prairie, with military rites by American Legion Post 106.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, William Eugene Sneed and David Sneed, three brothers, and two wives.
