Kenneth J. Mitchell, 65, of McLeansboro died Wednesday, April 18, 2001, at Hamilton Memorial Hospital of cancer.
Mr. Mitchell was born on December 21, 1935 in Hamilton County to Robert L. and Bertha (Belva) Mitchell. He married Floann Rost on May 18, 1996, she survives.
He had been a postal clerk. He was a member of Hamilton County Beautification Task Force, past commander and served in the Honor Guard of American Legion Post 106, member of Elks, Knights of Columbus, Eagles and St. Clement Catholic Church.
He was a avid flower gardner and sports fan.
Surviving are his wife, Floann (Rost); four stepdaughters, Kristy Bowers and Rita Phillips, both of McLeansboro, Cindy Anselment of Dahlgren and Karen French of Dale; three stepsons, Randy Reyling of Dahlgren and Jim and Jeff Reyling, both of McLeansboro; his mother, Bertha Mitchell Skelton of rural Enfield; a sister, Joan Rubenacker of Maggie Valley, North Carolinia; two brothers, Clarence of Normal and Carl of Carbondale; 14 stepgrandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were at 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 20, 2001 at St. Clement Catholic Church. Rev. Joseph Lawler officiated. Burial was in St. John’s Cemetery in Poipolis, with military rites.
He was preceded in death by his father.
