L. Clarence Aydt, 97, of Enfield died at 8:40 p.m. on June 4, 2001, at Hamilton Memorial Hospital.
He was a farmer.
Mr. Aydt was born on March 10, 1904, in Hamilton County to Kapistran and Adelaide (Hall) Aydt. He married Frieda Louise (Roesch) Aydt in Piopolis January 29, 1932; she died on September 11, 2000.
Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 8, 2001 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Piopolis. Father Joseph Lawler officiated. Burial was in St. John's Catholic Cemetery.
He is survived by a son, C. William Aydt and wife Bernice of McLeansboro; five grandchildren, Anita Koontz and husband, Douglas of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Janet Aydt of Mt. Vernon, Cynthia Bowling and husband Vince of Herrin, Steve Aydt of Belleville and Wayne Aydt of Johnston City; a sister, Christina Kaufman of Fairfield; five great-grandchildren, Jeremy and Andrew Koontz, and Matthew, Zachary and Anthony Bowling.
Mr. Aydt was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Piopolis.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers, and three sisters.
