Leland E. Spradlin, 55, of McLeansboro died at 8:25 p.m. on Monday, January 1, 2001, in the Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro of cancer.
He was born on December 1, 1945 in Jessamine County, Kentucky, the son of Robert Lee and Kathleen (Woods) Spradlin.
He married Catherine R. Clark on May 10, 1968 and she survives.
He retired from the Caterpillar Tractor Co. in Morton as a forklift driver.
He was a member of Tremont Calvary Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Catherine R.; two daughters, Catherine Shelton of Dahlgren and Nancy Walker of McLeansboro; his mother, Kathleen Spradlin of Nicholasville, Kentucky; two sisters, Catherine “Dolly” Tartaglia of Jamaica, New York, and Jackquelin “Susie” Stinnett of Nicholasville; a brother, Marshall Riggs” of Nicholasville; and four grandchildren, Lukas Shelton and Mariah, Abbey and Mason Walker.
Funeral services were at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 5, 2001 at Gholson Funeral Home. Rev. John Lee, Jr. and Rev. Terry Walters officiated. Burial was in Richardson Hill Cemetery, near Dahlgren.
He was preceded in death by his father and one stillborn sister.
