Lowell L. Hobbs

Lowell L. Hobbs, 84, born in Hamilton County died at his home at 3:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 16, 2001.

He was born on November 20, 1916 in Hamilton County, the son of Edgar and Nona (Lambert) Hobbs. His father died when he was two years old. He was raised by his step-father and mother James and Nona Pritchard. He married Anne Jarman on December 15, 1945 and she preceded him in death on November 21, 1995.

Survivors include two daughers, Sue and husband Norton Foskett of Grapevine, Texas, Barbara and husband Steve Norman of Birmingham, Alabama, six grandchildren, Maggie Stull of Richmond, Virginia, Brian Stull of Grapevine, Texas, Eric, Alice, Mary Anne, and Sarah Norman, all of Birmingham, Alabama, a sister, Mary Glover of Benton, and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Hobbs was a retired funeral director and embalmer. He was former partner in the Drake-Hobbs and Hobbs-Johnson Funeral Homes in Benton. He was a World War II Air Force vertan and also served in the Air Force Reserves. He was a member of the Benton Rotary Club, Benton Elks, and Chamber of Commerce.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 18, 2001 in the Hobbs-Johnson Funeral Home. Rev. Dale Carson officiated. Burial with military rites were held at the Masonic and Odd Fellows Cemetery in Benton.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two brothers, Charles and James Pritchard, and a sister, Mildred Tyler.
