Milton Junior Irvin, 65, of Dale died of a gunshot wound to his head at 11:15 a.m. on Monday, January 15, 2001 at his home in Dale, Illinois. His death was ruled a homicide.

He was born on August 17, 1935, the son of Milton and Lillie (Martin) Irvin. He was married to Rea Sue (Kiefer) Stock.

He retired as a highway construction worker and was a member of Local 561 in Evansville.

He was a Protestant and a member of the Broughton Masonic Lodge and Eastern Star.

Surviving are two daughters, Deborah June Irvin of Portland, Oregeon, and Patricia Sue Leffers of Quincy; three sons, Ronald Milton of Minnesota, Steven L. of Moore, Oklahoma, and Leslie Joe of Seagoville, Texas; his mother, Lillie Irvin of Dale; a sister, Verla Cobb of McLeansboro; three brothers, Orvil Deen of Mount Vernon, Joel of Spartanburg, South Carolina, and Donald of Dale; 11 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were at 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 19, 2001 at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro. Rev. Robert Sefried officiated. Burial was in Hickory Hill Cemetery, near Broughton.

Masonic services by Broughton Masonic Lodge were at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, January 18, 2001 at the funeral home.

He was preceded in death by his father, one brother, Ewell Irvin and one sister, Verla Denny.
