Ruby F. Abston
Born January 8, 1924 - Died August 7, 2001

Ruby F. Abston, 77, of McLeansboro died Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2001, at her home of congestive heart failure.

She was a certified nursing assistant and retired after more than 30 years at the Hamilton Memorial Hospital.

She attended the First Baptist Church.

Mrs. Abston was born on January 8, 1924, in Hamilton County to Robert and Iduma Mae (Ledford) Henderson. She first married Almon "Shorty" Brock; after his death, she later married Floyd Abston; he preceded her in death.

Surviving are four daughters, Ruth Benbrock and Teresa Logan, both of McLeansboro, Vickie Patrick of Fairfield and Deborah Rankin of Grayville; two brothers, Ernest Eugene Henderson of Maunie and Clyde Dale Henderson of Omaha; 16 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two husbands, Almon Brock and Floyd Abston and a son, Gary Lee Brock.

Funeral services were at 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 10, 2001 at Gholson Funeral Home. Rev. John Denham officated. Burial was in Odd Fellows Cemetery in McLeansboro.

In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Gary Lee Brock; and a sister, Mattie Braden.
