Ray Kniffen, 87, died of Dahlgren Sunday, July 22, 2001, at Mount Vernon Care Center.
Mr. Kniffen was born on July 16, 1914, in Dahlgren to Arthur W. and Hattie (Davis) Kniffen.
He was a welder and iron worker in Oak Park.
He was a World War II Army veteran, serving in the coastal artillery in the Okinawa and Saipan military campaigns.
Surviving are nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 24, 2001 in Odd Fellows Cemetery, with military rites. Rev. Richard McCormick officiated.
He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant twin brother, John Kniffen, three sisters, Lola Aydt, Edna Lasswell, and Marie Moor, and three brothers.
