Raymond W. Fleckenstein
Born October 11, 1922 - Died July 3, 2001

Raymond W. Fleckenstein, 78, of Dahlgren died at 6:45 a.m. on Tuesday, July 3, 2001, at his home of liver cancer.

He was born on October 11, 1922, in Jefferson County to Joseph and Barbara (Kiefer) Fleckenstein. He married Oatie Dollins in Mt. Vernon on June 12, 1948; she survives.

He retired in 1983 as plant manager of the Getty Oil Co. from 1959 to 1983 and had worked for the Skelly Oil Co. from 1949 to 1959.

He was a World War II Army veteran, a member and a special Eucharistic minister at St. John Catholic Church and a member of Knights of Columbus.

Surviving are his wife, Oatie (Dollins); a niece and nephews.

Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 6, 2001 at St. John Catholic Church. Msgr. Joseph Lawler officiated. Burial was in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Dahlgren with military rites by American Legion Post 106.

Gholson Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Frances and Wilbert Fleckenstein; and a sister, Loretta Fleckenstein.
