Shirley Ann McGinty, 70, of McLeansboro died of cancer at 7:20 a.m on Sunday, January 14, 2001, at Crossroads Hospital in Mount Vernon.
She was born in Kankakee on February 24, 1930, the daughter of Amily and Ethel Mary (Sexton) Wright McClarey. She was married to William McGinty and he is deceased.
She had worked as a psychiatric aide at the Kankakee State Hospital and as a beautician in the Franklin County Skilled Care Unit at Benton.
She was a Protestant and a member of the McLeansboro Eagles Ladies Auxiliary, American Legion Post #106 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliaries.
Surviving are two daughters, Linda Bowers of McLeansboro and LouAnne Birr of Bourbonnais; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Her husband, William, preceded her in death.
Funeral services were at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 17, 2001 at Gholson Funeral Home. The Rev. Andy May and the Rev. Randal Ragan officiated. Burial was in Brady Cemetery in Akin.
