Walter Winston “Wint” White, 82, of Springerton died at 6:15 p.m. on Saturday, July 21, 2001, at his home.
Mr. White was born on September 12, 1918, in Hamilton County to John Chester and Lucinda C. (Taylor) White. He married Florence L. Bowers in 1937, she survives.
He was a carpenter, World War II Navy veteran and member of the Carpenters Union Local 636.
Surviving are his wife, Florence L. (Bowers); a daughter, Mary Schaaf of Englewood, Florida; a son, Robert of Springerton; a sister, Bernice Bennett of Panama Beach, Florida; a brother, Cletis of McLeansboro; five grandchildren, Debi Gentry, Robert D. and Michael Schaaf, Diana McIntosh and Cari Reiss; six great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 24, 2001 at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro. Rev. Robert Sefried officiated. Burial was in Old Springer Cemetery near McLeansboro.
