Warriors Defeat Trail Blazers 87-84
PORTLAND, Ore. - Jason Richardson scored 26 points and the Golden State Warriors (news) beat the Portland Trail Blazers (news) for the second time in the preseason, 87-84 Monday night.
Zach Randolph had 20 points and 16 rebounds for the Blazers.
Troy Murphy had 17 points and 10 rebounds for Golden State, which beat Portland 90-71 on Oct.14.
Theo Ratliff had a rebound and dunk with 4 seconds left, pulling Portland within 86-84. Derek Fisher made one of two free throws to push the Warriors' lead to three points, and Richie Frahm's halfcourt shot at the buzzer fell short.
Murphy had nine first-quarter points and shot 7-for-11 overall.
Portland trailed the entire first quarter and took its first lead at 31-29 when Darius Miles hit an 11-foot jumper. Richardson hit consecutive jumpers near the end of the first half and Golden State took at 47-46 lead at the break.
Miles had 16 points in a reserve role for Portland. Damon Stoudamire added 10 points and 10 assists.
Portland's Joel Przybilla (sore left arch) and Derek Anderson (sore back) left the game in the first half. Qyntel Woods is serving an indefinite suspension while police investigate allegations of dog fighting.
Speedy Claxton added 14 points for Golden State.
